I do original reporting for Northwestern Magazine, including feature articles, short profiles and interviews. I offer design feedback and develop the copy for Instagram stories and short videos to accompany articles as well. In my free time, I write poetry, creative nonfiction and flash fiction. Article Highlights
An intimate profile of Art Johnston, co-founder of Sidetrack, the largest gay bar in the Midwest. Johnston lobbied for passage of groundbreaking civil rights laws in Illinois that have made Chicago one of the most welcoming cities for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Tyler Perry's film The Six Triple Eight is based on the true story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only U.S. Army unit comprising entirely women of color during WWII. Northwestern alum Margaret Glenn Sales Semmes was one of those women.
